Bruce Springsteen bit će 16. studenog bogatiji za još jedan box-set. “The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story” donosi šest sati video i više od 2 sata audio materijala uz 21 nikada prije objavljenu pjesmu.
Na 3 CD-a i 3 DVD-a (ili Blu-Raya) naći će se remasterirani album “Darkness on the Edge of Town” iz 1978. koji je preokrenuo Springsteenovu karijeru. Druga dva audio diska popunit će 21 dosad neobjavljena pjesma. Sam Springsteen kazao je za njih da su svoje mjesto trebale pronaći između albuma “Born to Run” i “Darkness on the Edge of Town”, no zbog pravnih zavrzlama i sukoba s tadašnjim menadžerom Mikeom Appelom, to nije bilo moguće.
Među tim neobjavljenim pjesmama nalazi se i rock verzija balade “Racing in the Street”, kao i “Because the Night”, te “Fire” u svojim originalnim aranžmanima.
Ova dva diska s neobjavljenim pjesmama bit će izdana kao zasebno dvostruko CD izdanje “The Promise“. Na službenim stranicama Brucespringsteen.net možete poslušati pjesmu “Save My Love”, ali i pogledati trailer za izdanje.
3 DVD-a donose dokumentarac “The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town” s nikad prije viđenim snimkama Springsteena i E Street Banda nastalim između 1976. i 1978. godine. Film koji donosi i intervjue s najvažnijim ljudima koji su sudjelovali u stvaranju albuma, premijerno će biti prikazan u Torontu, 14. rujna.
Ostala 2 DVD-a obuhvaćaju nastupe uživo: tu je čitavi bootleg iz Houstona 1978., druge pjesme iz tog razdoblja, ali i nastup iz 2009. kada je Springsteen u Asbury Parku izveo album “Darkness on the Edge of Town” u cijelosti.
Prateća knjižica od 80 stranica obuhvaća vjerne reprodukcije Springsteenovih zapisa, ideja, stihova, te fotografije.
Za ljubitelje Springsteena dovoljno je reći kako će izdanje biti reprezentativno poput deluxe box-seta “Born to Run” objavljenog 2005. godine.
