Akademija je predstavila uži izbor za devet kategorija na predstojećim dodjelama Oscara 2021, a među njima su i one za originalnu pjesmu i glazbu. Boratov “Wuhan Flu” ušao je u uži izbor za najbolju originalnu pjesmu.
“Wuhan Flu” iz Amazonovog “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” jedna je od 15 autorskih pjesama koje su ušle u uži izbor. Komični singalong ušao je u opasnu ekipu mogućih kandidata za Oscara poput Janelle Monáe (“Turntables” iz “All In: The Fight for Democracy”), Mary J. Blige (“See What You’ve Done” iz “Belly of the Beast”), H.E.R. (“Fight For You” iz “Judans and the Black Messiah”)… Još jedna osoba koja se ne bavi glazbom a nominirana je za najbolju originalnu pjesmu je Will Ferrell za “Husavik” (“Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga”).
S druge strane glazbenog spektra, u uži izbor u kategoriji za najbolju originalnu glazbu ušli su Trent Reznor i Atticus Ross, i to, kao što je slučaj i na Zlatnim globusima, za dvije nominacije – za rad na filmovima “Mank” i “Soul“. U kategoriji dijele prostor s imenima kao što su Terence Blanchard (“Da 5 Bloods”), Alexandre Desplat (“The Midnight Sky”), Ludwig Göransson (“Tenet”) i Benjamin Wallfisch (“The Invisible Man”).
