U Kuala Lumpuru radijske su postaje zabranile dio novog singla “Born This Way” Lady GaGe na svojim radio valovima jer, kako kažu, ‘potiču prihvaćanje homoseksualnosti‘, što je, čini se, njima krajnje neprihvatljivo.
Odašiljači bilo koje vrste u većinski muslimanskoj zemlji odbijaju
emitirati stihove koji su, prema vladinim odredbama, uvredljiva sadržaja
i koji narušavaju ‘dobar ukus, čednost i uvredljivi su prema javnosti’.
Međutim, apsurdno je da je pjesma napisana za jednakost među
rasama, vjerama, religijama i spolovima biva cenzurirana u ključnom
momentu usmjerenom upravo ovakvim socijalnim obrascima ponašanja i
oblicima diskriminacije!
Malezijski aktivist za prava homoseksualaca Pang Khee Teik kritizirao je ovu odluku rekavši kratko da bi mediji trebali biti ‘platforma marginaliziranim glasovima i poticati međusobno razumijevanje, a ne poticati neznanje i mržnju’.
GaGa je napisala “Born This Way” rekavši kako je željela biti očita, banalna i izravna, bez ikakvih pretenzija na učitavanje u smisao pojedinih stihova ili pjesme
